STATUS REPORT OF THE GEOHAZARDS ASSESSMENT AND MAPPING PROGRAM FOR THE 2ND QUARTER 2011

A total of four (4) municipalities in the Province of Aurora were assessed for the mapping period. The municipalities include Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan and Dipaculao.

Each municipality was provided with the summary of the assessment conducted in the barangays. The draft map and the mapping activities conducted were presented to the LGU during the exit conference and IEC. A copy of the summary report was furnished to the CENRO-Casiguran.

Landslides and Flooding Geohazard Threat Advisories were issued to the following municipalities/barangays:

• Dilasag - 7 barangays (Diagyan, Dilaguidi, Dikabasan, Masagana, Maligaya, Dimaseset, Diniog), (3) 3'X3' QUADRANGLES

• Casiguran- 13 barangays (Bianoan, Calabgan, Estevez,, Calangcuasan, Tineb, Marikit, Tabas, Culat, Lual, Calantas, Dibet, Cozo, Esperanza, Poblacion - Brgys. 1-8), (3) 3'X3' QUADRANGLES

• Dinalungan -9 barangays (Nipoo, Zone 1, Zone 2, Paleg, Dibaraybay, Mapalad, Simbahan,, Abuleg, Ditawini) (4) 3'X3' QUADRANGLES

• Dipaculao- 6 barangays (wholly assessed), Brgy.Calaocan, Dinadiawan, Gupa, Mijares, Diamanen and Toytoyan (3) 3'X3' QUADRANGLES

The IEC with the Municipal Board was conducted in the municipalities of Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan and Dipaculao. Having presented with the result of the 1:50,000 Hazard Maps and the 1:10,000 draft maps, the LGU have different views regarding the usage of the hazard maps; i.e. to be used in the preparation of the Comprehensive Land Use Program and to be used to, in the words of the LGU, to once and for all be used in their fight against illegal logging and mining activities.

In addition to this, the 1:50,000 Hazard Maps (Rain-Induced and Flooding Susceptibility Maps) were provided to the DENR3 to be used in some of their programs such as Watershed Vulnerability and coastal resources management.
