PMRB SIGNS RESOLUTION REQUIRING ECC FOR SPECIAL QUARRY PERMIT

The Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) of Tarlac issued recently a resolution requiring all quarry operators to secure the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) first before a Special Quarry Permit is issued to them.

This was tackled during the PMRB meeting on March 29, 2011 at the Provincial Capitol of Tarlac. Said resolution was issued in view of the issue that several quarry operations in this town were allegedly operating without an ECC. Resolution No. 04-2011 requires all quarry operators, including those with special quarry permits, to secure Environmental Compliance Certificate ( ECC) from the Regional Environmental Management Bureau (EMB R3) as a mandatory requirement in the issuance of permit to extract sand and gravel and other quarry resources.

PMRB Tarlac is chaired by MGB R3 OIC Director, Danilo u. Uykieng with ENRO Tarlac Rolando Cordoba as vice chairman. Other members are Luz Ducusin and Virgilio A Garcia representatives of NGO and small scale mining respectively.
