PROVINCIAL MINING REGULATORY BOARDS (PRMRBs) REGIONAL SUMMIT HELD

City of San Fernando, Pampanga - A Provincial Mining Regulatory Boards Regional Summit organized by Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) was held on November 22-23, 2011 at the Mimosa Golf and Country Club, Clarkfield, Pampanga. A total of 25 participants who are members and support/technical staff of the existing PMRBs of the provinces of Aurora, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales, and Environment and Natural Resources Officers (ENROs) of the provinces of Bataan and Nueva Ecija. attended the said event.

City of San Fernando, Pampanga - Landslides/debris flow in Sitio Malinta, Subic, Zambales, damanging two (2) houses near the creek banks. The two (20 landslides/debris flow happened on August 1 & 4, 2011.

MGB3 COMPLETES GEOHAZARD ASSESSMENT IN AURORA

City of San Fernando, Pampanga - The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) here has already completed its geohazard assessment and field mapping activities in the province of Aurora.

MGB Region 3 Accomplished 99% of its Target in “Use It or Lose It Policy”

In line with the implementation of “ Use it or Lose it Policy” of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the MGB Region 3 reported that it has accomplished 99% of of its target for June 30, 2011.

PMRB SIGNS RESOLUTION REQUIRING ECC FOR SPECIAL QUARRY PERMIT

The Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) of Tarlac issued recently a resolution requiring all quarry operators to secure the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) first before a Special Quarry Permit is issued to them.

Mining Companies in Central Luzon Alloted P20 Million for Social Programs

Mining Companies and Industrial Sand and Gravel Permittees (ISGP) will be spending around P20 million in implementing their Social Development and Management Programs (SDMPs) this year to their host and neighboring communities.
According to Region III Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) OIC, Regional Director Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng the P20 million will be spent for health, education , infrastructures, livelihood and other social services programs for 2011

DENR Suspends Issuance of New Mining Permits

Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon J. P. Paje has directed all regional directors of the Mines and Geo-sciences Bureau to refrain from accepting and processing new mining applications nationwide. Paje issued the directive in view of the on-going cleansing of pending and inactive mining projects nationwide by the mines bureau.

MGB3 Targets 10 Municipallities For its Geohazard Assesment and Mapping Program

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) 3 is targeting 10 municipalities in Central Luzon for its 2010 Geohazard Assessment and Mapping Program .

According to Regional Director Danilo U. Uykieng, this activity is part of the major programs under the densification of geohazard and climate change maps which will be implemented this year by the MGB.

RD Danilo U. Uykieng is Back at MGB-3

DENR Acting Sec. Ramon JP. Paje issued recently Special Order No. 2011-80 designating Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng as the Officer-In-Charge, Regional Director of Mines and Geosciences Bureau in Central Luzon replacing Mr. Orlando M. Pineda, Sr. who was reassigned at the Cordillera Administrative Region.

RD. Uykieng is not new to this post as he was already assigned as OIC , RD in this office from June 2008 to May 2009. From Region 3 he was then reassigned as OIC RD of MGB Region 8, Tacloban City.

MGB3 Assessed The Flashflooding in Brgy. Paltic, Dingalan, Aurora

The passage of Tropical Storm Caloy last July 18, 2010 brought heavy rainfall in Brgy. Paltic, Dingalan, Aurora and resulted to flashflooding. With this situation , OIC, Regional Director Orlando Pineda, Sr. immediately dispatched personnel from the Geosciences Division to conduct monitoring and assessed the extent of damage brought about by said typhoon.

In a report submitted by Mr. Noel B. Lacadin, OIC, Geosciences Division , it was observed that the flashflooding with minor debris flows that affected Dingalan particularly Brgy Paltic were caused by :
